Marketing and Writing Newsletters

I know, I know. No more newsletters, please!

I hear you. I used to have the same problem.

I subscribed to a lot of newsletters that then hung unopened in my inbox forever because I didn’t have the time to read them all. And that made me feel guilty and anxious.

But here’s why I’m giving you this list. Newsletters can be powerful tools for your online business.

You need to only read the newsletters that are useful for you and your business.

Reading newsletters within your niche is no waste of time. Newsletters provide insightful and actionable tips for businesses.

I added some minutes of newsletter reading to my work routine because I know that they’re useful to me. The key here is to subscribe to the right newsletters so you don’t waste your time. Here’s a short list of marketing and writing newsletters for you.

Marketing Newsletters:

  • The Tilt: If you’re going to subscribe to only one newsletter, let it be The Tilt. A unique content marketing newsletter for entrepreneurs by renowned content entrepreneur, speaker, and author Joe Pulizzi. And when I say unique, I mean go and subscribe right now! You’ll get actionable insights for building a content business. Besides, they’ve developed a crypto coin named $TILT. If you subscribe to The Tilt newsletter through my link, you get $5 USD worth of $TILT coin.
  • The Random Newsletter: Also by Joe Pulizzi, The Random Newsletter is a fantastic bulletin about media, content marketing, life success, and random ideas (always inspiring). I enjoy and learn a lot every time it arrives in my email.
  • Dennis Shiao’s Content Corner: Curated content about marketing, interesting people, podcasts, and life in general. What I like about this newsletter is that I always find out about something interesting and useful for my business or daily life. This is the way I find out about new trends, brands or interesting books and podcasts. If you want to be updated on everything related to marketing, I recommend that you subscribe to Dennis Shiao’s Content Corner.
  • Future of marketing: Extremely insightful content about User Generated Content (UCG). Their premise: “the future of marketing will be driven by the voice of people.”

Writing and copywriting newsletters

Selfish Forever: a newsletter for digital nomads. I’d love to describe it for you but why deprive you of its author’s Ash Ambridge magical words?

selfish forever newsletter

Meat & Hair: Also by Ash Ambridge, this resourceful daily newsletter brings the best copywriting pieces every day. Listen to me, you don’t want to miss it.

Social Media Resources

Content Management Resources

Buffer: I must say I used Buffer for Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn for months and it’s intuitive, easy to use and it delivers well. It has a free plan that allows you to manage up to 3 channels, 1 user, and 10 posts a month.

Social Pilot: I would recommend Social Pilot if you have clients as a social media marketer, as it doesn’t have a free plan and the cheapest one allows you to manage up to 10 social profiles for a good price. It also has a 14-day free trial.

Postcron: A great app at a good price. The starting plan is not expensive and it allows you to manage 8 social media accounts + 2 Instagram profiles, and schedule up to 100 posts a month. It also has a free version with some features unlocked.

Tailwind: An intuitive social media automation tool, it’ll make your life as a blogger/freelancer much, much easier. Although it doesn’t have a free plan, the cheapest option available is accessible and has a lot of features, so I consider it a deal.

Hootsuite: Good for advanced and bulk marketers. It has a free trial but not a free version. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re a solopreneur, as it has a high price for features you won’t need.

Travel Resources

For Deciding Destinations

Thorn Tree (Lonely Planet): a forum where travelers share experiences and questions about places in the world. You can sort by destination, activities, interests, etc.

Tripadvisor: get founded opinions on everything. From town and cities to hotels and car rental companies and restaurants. Millions of people publish reviews on Tripadvisor, so you’ll find what you´re looking for. Where to eat? Is this travel agency reliable? Are there mosquitos in Tailand?

Find flights, housing and transportation

Excellent websites to plan your whole trip and get good deals.

Create Pictures and Professional Designs

Canva: I love Canva for one simple reason. I’m not a graphic designer and Canva is an incredibly intuitive and resourceful tool. You can create any design you want, and it has the most amazing templates for everything.

Social media preset designs, invitations, personal cards, and anything you could imagine. It also helps you create graphics for your web easily and fast. The free version is complete, but there’s a point at which, as a content entrepreneur, you feel you need more.

The premium plan is accessible and has more features like background remotion, design dimension changing (so you can transform an IG post into a Pinterest Pin in seconds, for instance), brand color palette generation, among others.
